A church wedding

We love weddings in our parish and warmly encourage you to consider one of our beautiful churches as the location for your wedding and special day.

While the church bells ring out of Holy Trinity to celebrate a marriage, as the couple emerge from the church to start their new life together, a Christian marriage can provide a richness of significance not only to the wedding couple but their families and close friends, to remain as a joy and strength in the years ahead. The two beautiful churches of St Mary’s Leigh Woods and Holy Trinity Abbots Leigh have become increasingly popular for weddings in recent years, you can even hold your reception at St Mary’s. The setting for both is rural and yet only a few minutes from Clifton and Bristol.

More recently couples have expressed a wish for a more economical and ecological wedding. So however you wish to celebrate, there are Wedding Couple evenings where it’s possible to ask whatever questions you have, where you can hear and discuss music, readings and your preferred form of service, floral arrangements etc.

christening

Baptism

Baptism-sometimes referred to as christening, involves an ‘initiation’ and welcome into the world church, represented by a church with which you have a relationship.

If you live in the parish of Abbots Leigh with Leigh Woods the baptism can take place here. If you have a connection with Abbots Leigh or Leigh Woods, but do not live in the parish, then we are happy to speak with you as to how you might best proceed. We are happy to offer baptisms at any age, whether for a baby, a young person or an adult. We are also happy to discuss services of Thanksgiving for the Birth of a Child.
We look forward to hearing from you. It will be a pleasure to celebrate with you the amazing gift that is the birth of a child.

confirmation

Confirmation

Confirmation-Congratulations on wanting to explore confirmation. It is important to see confirmation as a part of your journey in faith in Christ and not in isolation.

If you would like to find out more, please speak with Hester and, if you wish you can attend a confirmation course. This is a good way to explore your faith with others who are thinking about confirmation and is a safe place to ask any questions you have about God, Jesus and the journey of faith. Also it’s possible to be both baptised and confirmed either at the same service or beforehand.
